Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Split Mate (also named Picnic Split in the app), provided through theappcoderz.com, handles information when you use our mobile applications, website, and related services.

Information we collect

• Account information: your name, email address, authentication identifiers, and account preferences. Passwords set through our service are stored as hashes, not as readable passwords.
• Social sign-in: when you choose Google or Apple sign-in, authentication providers may share your identifier, name, and email address. We do not receive your Google or Apple password.
• Picnic and group information: picnic names, dates, descriptions, cover photos you select, member names and optional emails, invitations, expense amounts and notes, payer contributions, participation units, waivers, advances, and settlement records.
• Technical information: authentication/session tokens and server request information, which may include IP addresses, timestamps, and device/browser details. Firebase Analytics may collect app interaction events, app-instance identifiers, and device/app information under its configuration.
• Preferences: we use the device's locale or region setting to suggest an initial currency and save your selected preference. This does not require precise GPS location.

How we use information

We use information to authenticate users, manage accessible picnics, calculate shares and balances, reuse saved members, deliver invitations and password-reset emails, respond to support requests, maintain security, and understand and improve app reliability and usage.

Information visible to other people

Picnic members with access can see that picnic's member list and shared records. Connected members may have management access and can change shared information. Member names and contact information may be available through saved, mutual, or member-search features when adding participants. Do not enter information that you are not authorised to share. Invite only people you trust.

Service providers and disclosures

We use hosting and email delivery providers, and Google Firebase services for authentication and analytics. Apple and Google handle their respective sign-in services. Providers process information needed to supply these services under their own terms and privacy policies. We may disclose information where required by law, to protect users or the service, or in connection with a business transfer subject to applicable safeguards. We do not sell personal information.

Photos, storage, and permissions

Cover-photo selection accesses photos you choose using the device's photo picker. Selected cover photos are uploaded and visible to people who can access the picnic. We do not require access to your entire photo library, device contacts, or precise location for the core expense-sharing features.

Payments and currency

Split Mate records expenses and suggested settlements. It does not transfer money or collect bank-account or payment-card credentials for these features. Selecting a currency symbol does not convert recorded amounts or provide exchange rates.

Retention and deletion

Account and group information is retained while needed to provide the service, maintain shared records, resolve disputes, and meet applicable obligations. Deleting a participant from a picnic is not the same as deleting their account. Group records that concern other members may need to be retained or anonymised rather than removed. Backups and security logs may remain until their normal retention cycle ends.

To request deletion of your Split Mate account and associated personal data: email noreply@theappcoderz.com from your registered email address with the subject "Split Mate account deletion". Specify the account email and whether you also want associated personal data deleted. We may verify ownership before acting, and explain any information that must be retained. Never send your password or a password-reset token.

Your choices and rights

You may edit supported records, choose which photos to upload, change currency preferences, reject invitations, and request access, correction, or deletion by contacting us. Additional privacy rights may apply depending on where you live. Browser sessions and app preferences use cookies or local storage necessary for sign-in and preferences; clearing them may sign you out.

Security and international processing

We use measures including HTTPS, access controls, hashed passwords, and limited-use reset links. No service can guarantee absolute security. Hosting and service providers may process information outside your country, subject to applicable requirements.

Children

Split Mate is not intended for children under 13, or below the minimum age applicable in their country. Contact us if you believe a child has provided information without appropriate authorisation.
